Sit and listen.

I make it a rule not to commit Slashdot link propagation without additional commentary, but I can't help it here. Lawrence Lessig's OSCON speech is by far the clearest, most coherent summary of information freedom issues I've ever heard.

It is an incredibly interesting presentation. I found the portions about Disney's creation of "Steamboat Willy" (which Disney admitted to stealing from Buster Keaton) as a derivative work and Disney's subsequent attempts to prevent derivative works of its subsequent creations, as well as the discussion of unregulated uses of works vs. "fair uses" to be particularly interesting.
